Track 1: On this episode of the podcast, I'm here with Amy Angelo, who is an astrologer web designer and client success manager living in Brooklyn, New York. Amy just completed a three year certification program with her teacher, Dimitra George, studying Hellenistic astrology, which is practiced from the first to seventh century.

In 2019, she completed a Master of Art in web design from the University of Florida. Her web design work [00:02:00] focuses on supporting entrepreneurs and spiritual healers who are bringing themselves online for the first time.

I'm very excited to connect with who I know is a soul sister. So, Amy, welcome.

Amy Angelo: Hi Cameron. Thank you so much for having me. I feel like. Our path aligned at the perfect time, and it's such a pleasure to be here.

Track 1: So I wanna jump in as I do with every guest and ask what was really the beginning of your spiritual awakening?

Amy Angelo: So it really started for me when I was in college, I was studying advertising and I just knew that I was recognizing how much of the world is a manipulation through my studies and it just wasn't like aligned with me, my studies on like a deeper level. And I started awakening into feminism at that time. So I started like identifying as a feminist, reading feminist books. I actually picked up a [00:03:00] minor, um, a women's studies minor. And it was through that kind of coursework. I, I was so deep. I think I was a junior in college and I was like, I wanna switch my major. Um, and my family was like, no, like graduate, just get the minor. Um, do your thing and, and keep enjoying your study. So it was so eye-opening for me and part of that journey really opened me up into like the divine feminine. So I became really interested in like goddesses goddess culture. Like I come from a Jewish background.

I never knew that there was like a feminine aspect of God called the Shekhina. I took a class called Hebrew

goddess. I just became so

immersed in this idea of like feminism and divine and the divine feminine. I started actually working with a woman at that time who very simultaneously, I was also doing like studies of archetypes at the same time.

So I [00:04:00] became, that was. Even pre astrology, I was like, oh wow, there's these kind of archetypes and these women goddesses, these female deities, really hold these spaces about the woman's experience, whether it's like the dark feminine goddess or it's like the birthing or the mother, the crone, you know, all of these different kinds of experiences of being a goddess.

So I became so interested in the archetype of like the dark feminine, and I started studying like Lilith Collie, these like plutonian, like feminine goddesses. And I just was obsessed. Um, at simultaneously there was a job opportunity that came up through my studies to work at a women's health clinic, and it was actually an abortion clinic.

And so I actually started working with women undergoing the intensity of abortion, um, before ROE versus wage dropped. And so that also became part of that, like I think tapping into that like. [00:05:00] Goddess energy and like the power of like dark goddess energy really helped me kind of like usher through that journey.

So it was this whole like awakening that I had. Um, and it was really powerful.

Track 1: Interesting. Yeah, we'll definitely get to the astrology piece.

I'm curious for maybe anyone. Well, many of my listeners are female. I do know this, so there will be that. But for anyone who's like, maybe I haven't really thought about Goddess Energy too much personally. I've actually been working with Goddess Energy a lot the last couple of years and the divine feminine within myself because this is an aspect of both men and women.

Um, specifically for me, I work a lot with Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene. Uh, but when I was traveling just this summer, I did a lot of work with different goddesses, um, in particular, or even bridged when I was in Scotland. Uh. [00:06:00] Athena when I was in Athens. And so, um, it's kind of a unique thing because our, well in some ways 'cause our world is very masculine and doing, and we, as you kind of mentioned in, in Judeo Christian traditions, we,

it's always God as this man.

Um, and yet the feminine aspects exist in each of us and exist in our world. So I'm just curious if someone's listening going, huh? Goddess work. Like what is that? Or how can I sort of open up to that? Um, because I know for myself, it's been a really important part of my journey over the last

couple of years actually.

Amy Angelo: Amazing. Yes. So it was very new to me as well, um, because I just kept on asking this question like, where did the goddess go? Like where does she go? Like she is in all of these cultures and all of these civilizations, but somehow she's been written out time after time. And I became very like, fascinated with that question. And so [00:07:00] I actually found a woman who was like a practicing priestess, and I was just expressing to her like, I'm ready to kind of invite in like a goddess energy into my life because I just feel like it's missing, like it's been missing my whole life. I just didn't understand that like there. That there is this like divine feminine.

And part of my personal awakening story was also part of this like backdrop of like a spiritual awakening. Though I didn't, by the time I was doing the goddess work, I fully understood that I was undergoing a spiritual awakening. But I didn't know when it started with the women's studies, uh, kind of background. So, um, I basically started working with this woman. She, like, we were invoking the goddess through like different hymns. Um, I had a shrine with different kind of aspects of, or symbols that would reflect that deity. I was working with Lilith and Collie, so I had a shrine in my [00:08:00] room. I would light the shrine once a day.

I would sit in meditation. Um, I would do different rituals to invoke that energy. And like I actually found myself, I was. Going through a breakup at the time, um, my life was really like radically changing. I was inviting in death and rebirth, like a heavy transformation. And I remember, I knew that it was working because I went on a bike ride by myself in Florida.

I was living in Gainesville, Florida at the time and I was like on my normal bike path. And then this like snake cro, like was hold, like I couldn't move forward on my bike path 'cause this large snake was like basking in the sun. And I was like, that is this like. This embodiment, like, I'm meeting this snake in this time that I'm doing this.

Like, you know, Lilith is the serpent, she's the temptress, she's the one who tempted Eve. I'm like, this is what I'm doing, and like now I'm inviting, like I'm engaging with this realm of reality. And so I really like stopped. I witnessed kind of my surroundings. I understood and felt like it was a message, [00:09:00] and it was really like powerful for me because I had never assessed reality in that capacity, that internal, external like alignment, the, the synchronicity, if you will, Carl Young's idea that, um, symbols will come in in the work that you're doing and remind you that you're on the right path.

That was just really new for me and it really was through this, like this connection with this, like, because I was such a people pleaser at the time, I felt like, um, if I was or not, I don't know, but I felt like I was disappointing people or I wasn't. I. Kind of being who, like the pressures of the society as a woman.

'cause it's so hard to be a woman and for so many reasons. But I really just felt like I wasn't living up to the expectations of myself for whatever reasons at the time. Um, and I really wanted to like, break the mold. And so that's why I was really like, connected to this like beautifully powerful, dark, feminine energy, um, at that moment in my [00:10:00] life when I was erupting in the spiritual awakening.

So it was, as you can probably tell, it was, it wasn't like light and soft, it was intense. It was, um, yeah, it was like I, I went in and head first. I dived in.

Track 1: I did wanna share that, um, my journey, especially this, my listeners have heard in other episodes that I was traveling through Europe the last few months and one of the major lessons that I learned along the way had to do with, well, many lessons around the feminine.

But one of the lessons I learned was that actually coming to Earth, I was upset with the goddess

for sending me here because I didn't actually want to come into this life, but it wasn't the masculine now I thought it was really interesting. I thought for most of my life I had issues with men. And that's not actually true.

Some of my deepest rooted issues are actually with women and with the feminine. And what [00:11:00] I learned, and I know this about myself, but I learned it in a really deep way, was I actually came into this life overly feminine, like more so, which is why I was born in a male body to kind of come into balance with this.

But I was actually pretty upset with the goddess about even being here. And some of my deep work that I've been doing has been around, you know, forgiveness and you know, not being angry with God and these sorts of things, but specifically the feminine aspects of the creator. Because for those of you're like, oh, this is interesting to think about.

The creator, God oneness sourced all that is, can't be just masculine. That makes no sense because there is a feminine counterpart where there's yin years yang, right? And so. Even though in most of our religious con, well in the Judeo-Christian context, God is thought of as this masculine thing, but that's not true.

'cause if it's all [00:12:00] that is, then it incorporates the masculine and feminine. I wanna ask you, 'cause we hear this in spiritual circles and social media and whatever, but I wanna ask you, how would you define the divine feminine?

What does that mean to you?

Amy Angelo: That is an amazing question. It's so big. Um, what comes to mind is I became really obsessed during this time before I got into the astrology obsession with RuPaul's Drag Race. And we had talked about this previously and I couldn't exactly understand, but I was so obsessed with this show. Like I was binge watching it.

It was part of my identity. It was like part of like my whole conscious structure at that time. I started to realize, I was like, oh wow, this is goddess worship. Like this is honoring the feminine. This is not shaming the feminine. This is absolutely putting the feminine up on a pedestal and honoring her and her, all the different [00:13:00] emanations that exist. You know, drag queens have to be singers. They have to be dancers, they have to be performers. They have to be beautiful. They have to be all of these different expectations of them. They, and I just recognized, I was like, wow, like this practice is, it's a, it's a spiritual art. It just, it hit me in

this

way that completely changed me

at that time.

And so, to answer your question, I think, and your question was, what does the divine feminine mean to you?

Track 1: Yeah.

Amy Angelo: Yeah.

Like. I, it is so many different things, but I do feel like the essence of the divine feminine is to receive and to sit like, like close your eyes and like sit in the room of yourself and to receive, like you don't have to act into the world.

You can sit and you can hold court with the messages and the intuitions that emerge. Um, and at that time I hadn't done that. I was just out marching in the world. [00:14:00] Like I wasn't being introspective at all. I was like really like, you know, making my way. Like externally.

It's an internal thing. I think

the divine

Track 1: I,

love, I love the phrase you said, um, the room of yourself. Being in the room of yourself and like being in the room of the goddess, really, which may be the title for this episode. Who knows? Um, yeah, I love that. When we talked about this earlier, I thought it was super interesting that you kind of equated this like feminine awakening within yourself to RuPaul's Drag Race, because I've never been attracted to drag.

Um. Which may be because I'm rejecting the feminine parts of myself. I don't know. Uh, that could be possible. But, um, I thought that was so powerful when you shared that in terms of honoring the feminine 'cause I could totally see that, um, you know, a way to really honor the feminine aspects of our being.

[00:15:00] And especially so, because generally we'll say maybe other times when these people are not in drag, they're identifying as male.

And so it's actually the balance of both, which, and the worship of the feminine too, which I think is beautiful. I know my sisters will be listening to this episode and they're gonna be snapping.

Yes.

Amy Angelo: Yeah, I mean I was just blown away. Like I feel like drag queens taught me in RuPaul's Drag Race and beyond. Like I love going to clubs and like seeing them in action. They taught me like what it means to be female and like what it is, like the performance of it, but also the essence of it as well. So I just love drag queens.

I love the art. It's such an art form. It's such a high art form. I think it's like the best I, Ru Hall is one of my favorite people. It was just Ru's birthday a few days ago. Scorpio [00:16:00] Sun and Moon. So.

Track 1: Um, actually talking about my sisters, they were in New York this past weekend. I don't know when the show will air, when they're gonna listen to it, but they were in New York a few days ago, uh, and on Saturday, so two days ago

they went to a drag brunch.

Amy Angelo: Amazing. I love it. It's, it's perfect timing.

Track 1: I can literally hear them listening to this episode talking out loud to me right now. I hope you guys sent me a text when you're listening. Um, okay. So I'm curious, so, okay. For you it was like, I'm going in deep. So what then was the sort of spiritual awakening

that came next?

Amy Angelo: So that's an amazing question. So I re I remember kind of working, I, I had mentioned like I simultaneously while I'm having this, like where's the Goddess? I'm working in this abortion clinic, um, helping women through some of like the most intense parts of their lives. And I remember not having a spiritual grounding and being [00:17:00] like, wow. This is a really intense moment for families, for women, for families, and there's, it's such a, as I can, I'm sure you can imagine just such an intense environment. It's, there's shame to men, there's shame to women, there's protesters outside, there's, there's guilt. There's this kind of whole thing happening. And I just remember being like, there's got to be more like, how do I know? Like, Like, this seems like, um, like I'm working in this environment. I'm kinda ushering women through this intensity. I am like really interested in like the time, like it feels like the right time. But like why now? Like, like just asking questions about like my personal timing, the timing of these people that I'm around, like what's going on in their lives.

And so that's kind of what clicked on the, the astrology interest. And so my neighbor, who's amazing. Had told me that he had an astrology reading [00:18:00] when I had come home from break from college. And I was like, I want to have one. So I booked an astrology reading my first one ever. I think this was in 2017 maybe. And I remember going into the reading, having no idea what astrology is, obviously, you know, like what your sun sign is, you know, the basics. And I left that reading being like, I wanna do that, whatever. He just made me feel, I didn't leave being like, wow. I was like, I want, I need to learn that. Like, I became like obsessed. It was whatever, like, you know, in the transmission of an astrology reading, it's magical. Like you are looking at yourself for the first time. You're understanding why things are the way they are. Timing kind of makes sense for the, for ways and ways that you had never perceived. So I was just like, okay, I'm gonna do that. Um. I had mentioned that I was, I had gone through a breakup, so I was kind of more like free. And I was like, I wanna move to New York City and I'm going to study astrology. That's like [00:19:00] really what is driving me there? I'm already in grad school, I'm already doing my web design studies, which is an amazing kind of grounding, keeping me grounded. Uh, and I locate relocated to New York and then I started studying astrology really seriously. I had a modern, my first teachers were modern background, so John Marcella, he still is a teacher here in New York. Um, Shirley Ser, I would go to her house every single week for two years and we would do a group astrology reading.

So you would pay 20 bucks. You come in with the chart and you would, and the group at large would read someone's chart together. This was interesting because there's so many different perspectives. I learned so much in that class, how to read,

how to

hold space for someone. Um, people were coming year after year and it was like. One of the, it was the highlight of my week, and Shirley is such a charm, like, I love her. So that was kind of where I started. And so then I am in my, my modern [00:20:00] astrology studies, I'm learning, um, and I'm totally intrigued and, and reading charts in a public setting, meeting all my friends in New York, like most of them I met in this class with Shirley.

So it was so amazing and so fun. It's such like a, an astrologers rite of passage in New York City to go to this class. And so it was just, she was like, at the time, like, in, I hope, I like hope she's doing well. She was like, I bet she's like 90 now. So she's been in a professional astrologer for decades.

There's actually a New York Times article about her. But anyway, so, um. So I'm, I'm finishing up my grad school studies. This is in spring semester of 2019, and I'm listening to the Astrology podcast. Are you familiar with Chris Brennan's astrology podcast?

Yeah. The best, if you're studying

astrology, it's

like the best thing, the best resource. And he has an, oh, okay. Pause this. I have, because I have to go [00:21:00] back up. I find this book, I, I'm at this like Namae bookstore and I find this book at the bookstore and it's called, um, mysteries of the Dark Moon. And it's all about, it's by Demetra George.

At the time, I didn't know her, I didn't study with her. It's all about these dark god goddess archetypes. So, you know, I have, I've been so interested in learning about Lili Medusa, all of these dark feminine energies. I'm reading this book and I'm just coming alive and I'm like, this like completely marries my astrology interest with my dark goddess feminism stage.

And I was just completely living. I was, I was living, I can't even, like, I'm smiling now. One of the asteroids in a birth chart that you can enter into the chart is Lilith. And at that time in Shirley's class, so many women were coming into the class wanting to talk about Lilith. So like one of my friends that I met had a tattoo of Lilith the first [00:22:00] time, like, and I was like, oh, we're gonna be friends immediately.

Like a tattoo of the symbol of Lilith ever. There was a, a student in that class who's now made an Oracle deck about Lilith, like we were some real Lilith energy in that room together. And it was like, I was like, couldn't have been happier, couldn't have found a better place. And so I am fascinated by Dmitri George.

I'm reading this book. It's completely life changing to me and. If you look at my copy, it's like destroyed because I've just like read it like so intensely. And I'm listening to a podcast that Chris Brennan did on the astrology podcast interviewing Demetra about her life. And at the end he's like, do you wanna plug anything that's going on?

And she's like, well actually, I'm leaving a trip to Greece and the enrollment's open and it's going to be May, 2019. And I was like, I have to go on that trip. Like this book has completely changed my life. This teacher, I can go [00:23:00] like, study with her. What's going on? This is like perfect. So I end up getting myself on this trip and going to Greece with Demetra by like on a trip by myself, um, with I think 30 other people.

And we were studying ancient Greek mystery religions in Greece, which was also a life changing experience. And that's when I met Demetra. Who became my primary teacher. Um, and I know that you have this connection to Greece and you

were

in Greece and I, you understand

how deeply magical and embedded there the consciousness of that space is.

It is just in completely invigorating.

Track 1: Yeah. I'm like, um, my crown's being tapped. I'm like, um, goosebumps all over. It's interesting that. We will, we had met after that trip. Of course, everything is in divine timing, but yes, you and I have spoken about Greece. [00:24:00] Um, I mentioned the trip that I was on for many months this past summer, but the place that I felt most powerfully, uh, changed was Greece.

And I loved, I spent time, I was in Santorini, I was in Crete, and then I also went to Athens. And of course it was Athena who invited me to Athens. Didn't realize it until like, after I show up to the city and I'm like, oh, this city is named after a goddess. What? Like warrior goddess and wisdom. I'm like, huh, okay, that's cool.

Completely unbeknownst to me. But when I know consciously, I know very little about Greek history. Pretty much nothing actually. Uh, like, you know, those history books, for whatever reason, I didn't study that in world history or something. Or if I did, I wasn't paying attention. I don't know. But when I was there in the land, like in that place, it was so clear that there was so much wisdom, so [00:25:00] much knowledge, so much that my soul knew.

I mean, walking around Crete, that island, I was like, oh my God, this is, I've definitely been here before. I've left the codes and things for myself here. Um, and I definitely need to return. I'm most certainly not done with Greece. But what is interesting is that my experience with Greece was a very visceral one.

Uh, but I still to this day don't really know much about Greek, well, anything Greek mysteries. I don't know about Greek religion. Uh, I mean, I do know about the Eastern Orthodox Church, but I. But also nothing really about astrological practice, um, in that area of the world either. And then I connected with you and I went, oh my God.

So yeah, if you wanna share a little more about that, what happened or transpired in that trip for you?

Amy Angelo: It was it, we could spend the whole episode talking about this trip to Greece. But basically what the idea is, is [00:26:00] we studied, we went to all these different areas. So we went, started in Athens, went to, um, Sam Rocky, we went to, which is like this tiny island, like way out there like Alex Alexandria, um, or Alexandropolis.

We just went to all of these kind of like, we went to drama Greece. We went to all of these kind of more obscure places. So all the places that you had named are more like on the radar. When I looked at this agenda on this, um, like itinerary, I was like, wow, I'm really going into unknown land. I don't know anyone I, you know, study astrology.

I like read Dmitri's book. Um, you know, I am. Going up by myself on this journey, and I ended up meeting the Friends of a Lifetime. I, I still we're all going on a retreat together in a few weeks to study with Demetra. Like we, we still travel together because this like magical container of space that we [00:27:00] experienced in Greece together just has like created something like a, some magic that still lives. So, um, and we tap in and out of these like magical spaces together, but we basically, like what ancient mystery religions are, are basically these kinds of rituals that were kind of underground. So there was like the religion, right, like the ordained religion in the daytime. Like what, what people were going to on, you know, whatever day of the week, their church or their, whoever was their patron, god or goddess of their town, they were, um, honoring them. But there was this whole. Mystery proportion where families would have the opportunity or individuals would have the opportunity to initiate themselves and go through this like complete spiritual experience, this subconscious, this deep transformative [00:28:00] like experience. So there's multiple different mystery religions.

There's the Ellucian mysteries, which is basically the mysteries about that interact or reen reenact the series and Persephone myth with Pluto and the abduction into the underworld. There was the mysteries at Samo Rocky, which if you go to the Louvre and you see that angel Sam with Rocky, she was pulled from that site and there is a whole lineage of religion.

There's the ORIC mysteries, there's just all these different kinds of mysteries and what it basically is, is underground. So. Nothing is known about them. We don't really actually know what it is that they were doing. We know that they were doing it for communing with the spiritual, for having this like, deep experience.

So we think that they would, for example, were, um, going into these ritual spaces, you know, giving themselves into garments, maybe taking plant [00:29:00] medicine, having an experience of ecstasy or having an experience of fear. And, and there was like a drama that was enacted, um, as part of the ritual and then coming reborn.

So they would have all these really intense, intense experiences. Like they would come and like tell their darkest secret, right? Like maybe like that was like part of the ritual. Or maybe they would come and, you know, be absolved of their, you know, deepest fears and, and kind of unlock a deeper part of themselves. So this was like. A really important part of ancient consciousness. This is a really important part of like Greek, um, Greek ritual and Greek kind of like the development of the subconscious and the development of like their, their spiritual hygiene.

So this trip to Greece really opened, then opened up the door for me to study Hellenistic astrology. So on the trip it was kind of announced like Dmitri's going to be doing her [00:30:00] last. Retreat series of Helena, sick astrology. And I was getting nudges from the group like, you need, it's, you need to go.

And I was like, wait, really? Like I should go on this course of study. Like, you know, I didn't know anything about this. And they were like, yes. And so, like I had, there's these tenor astrologers been, you know, who have been practicing for 20 years, 30 years, like telling me that I should go on this trip.

They're gonna be doing it too. And I was like, okay, like there's something here. And if I get to hang out with these people who have just made like such an amazing impact on my life,

I'm

Track 1: That's cool.

Amy Angelo: Yeah. So I was like, great.

So that fall, so we returned from the trip that fall. I embark on my first study, my first exam, or my first retreat intensive of Hellenistic astrology.

And, and it is really different. And it's a system, right? Like, like all astrology, it's a system, but it has a framework that's different from modern astrology, for example. Helena astrology, which emerged, like you [00:31:00] mentioned, from the intersections of Mesopotamia, um, you know, Babylonia, Greece, Egypt, all of these different kinds of, um, ideas were in a melting pot.

Vedic astrology and Hellenistic astrology have a lot of similarities, uh, overlap similarities because of like the way that they're systematized. Uh, but the biggest difference between Vedic and Hellenistic is obviously, like Hellenistic astrology is using the tropical zodiac, um, and Vedic astrology is using the sidel zodiac.

So the, the framework of the context of their cosmic understanding is vastly different, but the principles are similar. I actually find myself talking about this a lot, like astronomy and astrology were not separated. It was like, it was a study of the highest order. And so that becomes really interesting.

'cause now, like post Renaissance, they were separated into different kinds of study and astrology kind of got pushed under the rug, but it was such a [00:32:00] kind of like higher. Um, expansive way to understand the world, to understand beyond the earth, the cycles beyond the earth, and to hold context and space for your understanding of your grounding of time and space.

Track 1: Hmm. Yeah, there's so much resonance. I'm like tingling all over As you're speaking, and I know some people are listening, like I don't know really about astrology, so I'm not sure what this is. If there's anything you're gonna get from this conversation, it's just how deep astrology is. You may know your sun, moon and rising sign, and you read a horoscope every once in a while, but I can tell you my friends, that is.

Like a tinker toy, like not even compared to the wisdom and the knowledge and the information that's actually readily accessible inside of a chart. But very similarly to you. Like I had my first astrology reading in 2019, which awoke things in me. I've shared the story a little bit, but if any of you're interested, you can go to my website and read about me.

I literally wrote all [00:33:00] about that particular experience, but I remember feeling for the first time in my life that I was seen. But I felt truly acknowledged for being a soul in a body with a mission and a purpose. And I remember at the end of that reading, asking the astrologer if she would teach me, and she said no, because I was, I didn't need her.

I was gonna be my own teacher. And I was like, girl, I don't think so. I'm invested in six figures in a PhD program in leadership studies. I don't think I'm gonna do this astrology thing. But lo and behold, that's exactly what happened. She told me that, and astrology speak, Amy knows that Uranus was doing some fun things with me.

The great awakener essentially. And so that was a big part of my journey, but but I ended up writing my doctoral dissertation about the use of astrology as a tool for self-discovery, which I never expected to do.

I [00:34:00] really wanted to come back to the point that you made about the Renaissance, and I'm tingling all over. So this is apparently what listeners need to hear.

We went through the Renaissance in an age of enlightenment, which I think is a big paradox because at that point in my perspective, that point in human history is where we fell into a lot of darkness, where a lot of ancient knowledge, ancient wisdom, spiritual knowledge, uh, was wiped off the face of the earth or at least put into secret compartments where most people didn't know about them.

This is how I would say it. And so as you were talking about, 'cause people do ask me sometimes, astronomy, astrology, there was, it was the exact same thing for much of human history actually. Then it was divorced. So astrology and astronomy became a separate thing. So essentially, what do we want to talk about?

Well, we divorced humanity from the cosmos around that time, right? Separating the humanness from just the [00:35:00] physical aspects. This is also, by the way, not surprising because this is a time where Newtonian physics was really big in the world as well. So this idea of cause and effect and that we're separate from the world, the scientific method, all of these things, Cartesian logic, where now we're starting to think of humanity because our mind, because I have a mind, I'm separate from the universe, right?

Humans are separate, and in my opinion, we created a whole bunch of suffering here. No one on my podcast has ever given me an opening, by the way to speak of the things in my dissertation. But here you go, friends, you're like, my God, he's on a ranch right now. But the point is, at that time. Which really in consciousness on planet Earth was a time of separation of dividing ourselves from the cosmos.

We started to create science, human and science. The physical and the non-physical are separate. There was absolutely an intention to separate astronomy [00:36:00] and astrology, and I'm going to say it's because the straw luge is so powerful. This is a knowledge system that those in power do not want you to know.

In fact, I would argue that in the world there's been a lot over the last, maybe a hundred years, but 50 years or so to make astrology look fun and cute and shallow and whatever, to essentially hide the fact that it's just so incredibly powerful because all of the world's leaders. Use astrology they have for really history.

Um, you know, some of them we know about, some of them we don't. Uh, some of the most advanced people spiritually on planet earth, in the highest priesthoods of all of the world's religions know astrology and they don't want you to know how powerful that is. [00:37:00] Um, but I think what's really beautiful in this age that we're in now, and it is the role that astrology is kind of playing 'cause it's a bridge for a lot of people.

And they're like, oh, that's fun or interesting, let's look at that. When in reality we're coming into our knowing of ourselves again as part of the cosmos. See, when you're divorced or separated from the creator, from God, from source, from the universe, whatever, then it's really easy to ignore things or to write off, let's say things like astrology.

But when we start to look at it again and realize that we are actually interconnected, that astronomy and astrology are one in the same, and that, well, our thoughts and physical reality are one in the same. Right? We're talking about quantum physics here, which we don't need to get to in this episode, but it, there's a resurgence that is happening with astrology in the world, and it's not just because there's a bunch of people now who are [00:38:00] interested in woo woo, like, you know, new age thought.

Um, and there is no coincidence, I believe, where we're seeing a decline in a lot of organized religions, which I'm just gonna say it have a lot to do with control and manipulation of people at least control of thought, let's put it that way, doctrine. Whereas astrology, in my experience, is the exact opposite.

It's a key to freedom. Because fundamentally, as I understand astrology, this is a tool for understanding and enacting free will. Like how do I A soul, I had a plan here in this lifetime and I make choices when I'm down here and knowing astrology actually helps me to consciously move through my life. For me, it's a tool of freedom.

And so I don't think it's any surprise that we're seeing a decline in organized religion in the world and a rise in astrology and other tools like that too.

Amy Angelo: Totally.[00:39:00]

And one thing I'll say is, yeah, one thing I

have a few

things to.

say. One is, um, it's so interesting because when we were first talking and you were telling me about like Uranus, this planet who's not part of the hell and a stick framework is this great awakener. And I think it's so interesting that so many people that I know, you and me included and some of my friends really started their journey setting astrology under Uranus transit.

So this idea that it's like this kind of agent that can help you free your thought and. Expand your limitations of, of your experience in the world. Astrology fits right in with that. Like u Uranian kind of like vibe, for lack of a better word. Or, or the, the breaking of the, the Uranian chains, right? So that comes to mind immediately.

And then also when you asked me like, what is it about astrology, like the modern versus hellenistic, that's different. You spend, when you first get started in the [00:40:00] material, you spend a lot of time understanding how fast a planet's moving. Is it visible under the sun's beams? Is it, um, how, you know, it, it's a scientific calculation, everything.

Is it applying to a malefic, right? Is it separating from a benefic? Is it, you know, all these different conditions, like when you start assessing a planet's condition in the chart, which this is, I don't wanna get too technical, but that's one of the, the building blocks of understanding. You are learning astronomy.

There's no questions asked. You're learning how the system unfolds. And that to me, I was like, oh my gosh. Like that was the missing link. Like I had never learned astro astronomical alignment. And this helps me ground the system. And so if you're interested in kind of like those ideas and, and, and informing your understanding, Helen's psych astrology would be an interesting pursuit to study because you deeply engage with [00:41:00] the movements of the planets.

What, what cycle they were in. The Yeah. Ev so many different things, right? So I,

that comes to mind of like,

you, you know, the marriage or the separation or the divorce of Helen, like in Hellenistic times there was none.

Track 1: There was none. Yeah. And I mean, the other piece that I know, and I think we've talked about this, I will forever have more to learn about astrology because there's so many systems, so many people read so much knowledge that like one lifetime really isn't enough. And God bless, because I actually, much of what I use, I didn't learn in this lifetime anyway, I'll, I'm just accessing it from whatever my soul was doing a very long time ago, or maybe not a long time ago.

Um, yeah, so interesting. The one piece I wanted to plug here too. Is this idea, because I know people, especially this sort of scientific Newtonian, like this is how the universe cause and effect, blah, blah, blah. [00:42:00] People are like, wait, so you're telling me the planets make these things happen? And I would say, no, this is not some cosmic billiard game that when Pluto comes here, it's gonna bang around and make something happen for you.

However, we live in a universe that is moving, that is energetic and there are patterns that happen. And we know because we've observed it throughout all of human history. And when these energetics start to play together, you a human with a psyche and an energetic, um, body are going to respond to it. And you know, whether some people think it's the planet's out there causing stuff in here.

I think that what's inside of you, the cosmos is within you. So what's within is without, I mean, it's the axiom and astrology as above so below, and so there isn't a separation between what's happening inside of you psychologically and through your own soul's evolution and what's happening externally.

In fact, the external [00:43:00] is just the mirror for what's happening within each of us individually. It's the other piece that people don't necessarily know about astrology, because we hear things like, oh, if you're a Taurus, this is what's happening to you today. Okay? That's not one 12th of the population is gonna have a bad hair day today.

That is ridiculous. It's not true, obviously, but you are a unique aspect of the creator. Your chart is. Not like anybody else's unless you are a twin in which we're not even gonna go there in this conversation. Um, but even so would technically be slightly different. But your configuration of energy is not like anybody else.

And so as the planets and the cosmos continues to move and shift, so to do you, this is literally the story of your soul's evolution.

Amy Angelo: I couldn't agree more. Like I think that every time I have the privilege of like looking and working with someone's chart, I'm always like, you [00:44:00] know, every single person is so different. There is no two charts that are alike. And like even if you have the same sun, moon and rising, right? Like that really is still scratching the surface.

And if I can like work with someone and help them see themselves like, hey, like there's so much more to this reality structure. Like, you know, there's so like this is who you are and like this is what you're meant to do. And if I can even. You know, maybe they're not gonna have the same reaction, which is like, I wanna learn this, like I need to do this.

Right. But they will be like, okay, I'm on the right path, or, oh, I need to shift this, or, oh, my intuition. Like, it's such a validating kind of experience because people are always shocked, like, oh, you've never met me. You know nothing about me, and yet you're sitting here having this conversation as if you do know me.

And that always trips people up. It is like one of the most like magical, powerful [00:45:00] devices or like tools that we have available to us and

a lot of, and it is like the

more that you

study, the more almost creepy it can get.

Track 1: Yes. Really. It's like, you know, and for me, uh, you know, I'm deeply intuitive, so when I'm reading a chart. There is, you know, symbols that mean things in different aspects. Keep it simple with people. But then words will pop into my head and it's like, talk about the uncle, why? I don't know. And then I do, and then boom, right?

I hear people all the time say to me, that was like a year's worth of therapy.

Or, I mean, you have to be ready to want to see yourself for sure. But people ask, well, what is it like to have an astrology reading? And honestly, it should feel validating by the time you're finished you should feel seen,

uh, and you should be validated.

'cause people will ask, you know, it's not like, and I'm not, I'm not dissing this by the way, but it's not like a psychic [00:46:00] reading and it's not like a tarot card reading, which by the way, I've had many of those in my life and I use those tools for certain purposes. Could you go to a tarot card reader that literally gets it wrong, kind of like interprets things in ways that you wouldn't necessarily, and it doesn't resonate or whatever.

Sure. But anyone who can read an astrological chart, no. You're going to be validated for who you are. For sure. And, um, you know, it's very much a science as it is in art. It's, it's those two things together. And I feel very privileged. I mean, I've invested a lot of money in my education. I have many degrees, and yet this is what I chose to focus so much of my work on in the world.

Um, so it's not for nothing, y'all.

Amy Angelo: It's beautiful. I love your mission and I love that that's where you landed and that we even crossed paths to be able to have this conversation.

Track 1: I know. And this is just the beginning. So I'm curious then, [00:47:00] do you think that you're living your purpose?

Amy Angelo: I do. I, I say like I do, I feel like it's an always emerging journey, right? So I astrologically yes, my life completely aligns and like. I'm an astrologer. I have this signature of like wanting to be an astrologer. I love to travel. All of these different parts of me. I think I am in my Saturn return right now, which for anyone who doesn't know, um, a Saturn return is kind of like a reality check.

It's kind of like building the next foundation of your life. And so I am living in this moment of like, wow, so much is changing. My values are shifting. I'm understanding that time is finite. I'm understanding that I don't have like, like, you know, when you're young and you just feel like you have so much time.

I am young, right? But you, there's a different youthfulness and when you engage with your reality. So I [00:48:00] think I'm coming to like those moments where I'm like, wow, like there's changes that need to happen in my personal life, in my professional life so that I can align myself, um, in the greater scope of my. Of myself in the next kind of iteration, the next chapter. But at a deep level, yes, like I get to study astrology, I get to connect with people, I help spiritual, um, healers and all these different people get themselves online. That is so fulfilling for me. And I'm totally in this kind of like this, like in-between space in this moment that is the birthing, the intensity, the birthing.

And so I am looking forward to continuing the journey and to, you know, continuing to trust that I'm on the right path. Trust myself, listen to my intuition. Even as a person who is an astrologer, sometimes it's like, oh, the Saturn transit just feels a little bit dense. The work needs [00:49:00] to be done. But I do, I know that I am, I have found my people, I have found my place.

I'm, I'm still figuring it out, but I, I'm so hopeful and, um. I'm getting reassurance along the way.

Track 1: I am curious because I wanna, obviously I don't want to,

I have my own perspectives on this. I could preach about this,

but I wanna speak a little bit about the intersection of purpose,

astrology and the idea of prescription. So for somebody who says, well, is that just like the stars or making it happen that I have no choice?

Or if I go to an astrologer and they just tell me this is gonna happen, is that it? You know, how can this really be a tool to help me live my purpose? I'm just curious, sort of what your thoughts are to some of those objections, which I. Speak about plenty. So I have my own perspectives on it, but I'm just curious.

Astrology is a tool for your purpose, and then this [00:50:00] idea of somebody prescribing your future versus you creating it

Amy Angelo: Ooh. So like this, like free will Versus

Track 1: free, we're talking about.

Amy Angelo: Yeah. Versus faded ness. So I, think that I, so that's such a big question, right? And so I do think that the energies of the Times show themselves, and you have the, like, how do I say this? Knowing how to navigate with the energy ahead, right? Like if you know that you're in the density of a Saturn transit and you're expecting it to be as light as a Jupiter return, right? Like, and I know people who are on just don't know these things, but there's work to be done, right?

The, the expansion that kind of like, you know, by the way, I went to Greece, that Greece trip when I was having a Jupiter return. So 2019 was rocking over, over in my, in my world. Um, I do believe that like you, your terrain can look [00:51:00] different no matter what transit that you're navigating. How you choose to engage with the challenge or the opportunity makes the most difference.

If you know that you're having Jupiter come up to your time, to your time, lord, you know, that's an opening to kind of, to make the most of the magic of the moment. And if you know that Saturn is coming to the planet who's ruling your year, that's a kind of check-in. Like, are you sure? Right. Are, are you taking responsibility for this thing in your life? It's going to feel heavier, the energy's gonna feel different. And your ability to understand that, what the ask of the time is and how, and choosing, you know, through all whatever tools you have. Right? I have meditation, I have Kundalini yoga. Um, I love to go and work out and move my body. Like I have all these different things that I can kind of, you know, I go to a float tank, like depending on the energy of the ask of the day or the time, I really can harness the energy, uh, to best to to have the best [00:52:00] kind of possible mindset to. To engage with the times at large. So I, I'm speaking Astro speak and I recognize that, but I think that it goes to show that like there are times to rest and there are times to take action. And knowing the difference can make all the difference.

Track 1: There is a lot of power in knowing and consciously moving through things rather than thinking that you're some victim of reality, because you're not. You, a soul chose to come into this life. You had a plan. That plan is your blueprint. It's your birth chart. There's a ton of information in there about your soul's journey.

If you don't want to know anything about it, it's fine. You can live a full life that's. You know, I don't need to lie about that, but why would you not want to know what is inside of that for you so that you can move consciously through things?

And because I'm consciously aware I can become a participant in that game rather than, [00:53:00] you know,

just some reactor to what's happening around me.

Amy Angelo: Yeah. And you know when it's going to end, right? It might be long, but you know that it's not forever. And just like sometimes sitting with people and being like, okay, like this isn't forever, like this will end and here's your timeline. That's freeing, right? Like you, you might be like, oh my gosh, for the rest of my life it's gonna be like this.

I'm gonna have these challenges and have these struggles. And that's just not always the case. And I think

that

that can be such.

Timing is, is astrology's tool, right? Like understanding the timing of, of that cycle and, and under and harnessing like the lessons and like, you know, doing the hard work. So when you're on the other side of it, you know, I think that if you kind of, my tutor, she's amazing.

She told me, she was like, when you're in a Pluto Transit, I'm also in a Pluto transit. Pluto is on my moon. She's like, it's really, Pluto will reward you when you get rid of everything that you love,

right?

And I was like, oh, that, [00:54:00] that

is

an amazing piece of advice and it's hard to hear. But as I let that settle, I recognized, okay, wow. This, like, right now we had talked about earlier, like I'm, I'm working through some health stuff. I'm trying to figure out, I'm, I'm doing an elimination diet. What better time to, to get rid of everything like the sweets, the sugar, the whatever. I'm getting rid of all of it, right? And just starting from scratch, like building up my immune system from through food and through like self-healing. Now, you know, you would've told me to do that. This is the time to do that, right? Like right now you told me to do that. If you told me to do it two years ago, I'd be like, you're insane.

I'm not doing that. Right. And you reach a point where you're like, this is the time. Like I, I'm supported in this endeavor in a different way that than yesterday or than,

you know, a

month ago or what have

you.

Track 1: Well, and it's the ever unfolding story of your life because nothing astrologically exists in a vacuum. So even if somebody's reading for this [00:55:00] moment, it's like, well, something happened before and something's gonna happen after. Right. But what you're talking about too is I. You know, if you're moving through a transit right now, that for the next four months is going to challenge you in relationship and your self-worth, and have you reconsidering your finances and dealing with partnership issues, are you going to divorce your husband?

I don't know. It's your choice. I didn't say that was going to happen, but it could be. But knowing that what comes next after that period, depending on the choices that you make, this is what comes next. And it does end around February. So to know that the next four months are going to be intense for you.

But on the other side of this, these are the new lessons.

It's a very different way of operating in the world, I

Amy Angelo: Yeah, you're maturing, like you're understanding them, and not everyone has, like, you know, people go through different parts of their lives. [00:56:00] You see them going through things. I think we've never been more engaged with people's lives than in this age of social media. You watch people go through things. You watch famous people go through things.

You can see their charts, you know, you see the unfolding of transits, of timing, aspects of, of different, like chapters of people's lives unfolding. And every, not everything's happening all to everyone at the same time. It's, they get their lessons handed to them, and then they, and they work with what? Everyone works with what they've got to your point. So I think it's, I always am watching movies or um, pulling up famous people's charts, understanding like I'm learning all the time. Like all the time. Um, that's kind of like the mind of an astrologer. It's like you become obsessed and you can't stop like observing like the, the unfolding of the world through this like lens.

It's amazing.

Track 1: Yeah. Well, and hopefully the listeners are feeling the same thing. Thank you so much for sharing this [00:57:00] conversation with me today. This is one of my longest episodes, but I wasn't surprised if we're gonna be geeking out about astrology, but really thank you for sharing your story and your perspectives also on how so important and valuable really.

Um, astrology can be in helping us to understand our purpose, but also knowing that that's only one aspect of you and that, you know, the whole journey,

um, is ever unfolding.

Amy Angelo: Totally. Thank you so much for having me. It's always a pleasure to connect with you, Cameron, and

sending many blessings

and

for all the new phases of your life that are

unfolding

right now. I'm very excited for you.

Track 1: Thank you.

Along my own spiritual journey and from my experience supporting people in living their soul's purpose, I've discovered that living in alignment with our purpose comes down to three things. And unfortunately, most people unknowingly ignore these three things that will actually help them live in alignment. These three things [00:58:00] form my Soul's Purpose Framework.

If you're ready to learn how these things can support you in your spiritual journey. Check out my video resource, "The 3 Keys to Your Soul's Purpose".

In it, I share my framework for helping you identify what's the next best step. On your journey to living your purpose.
