Going through a spiritual awakening can be tough. It can be the greatest thing to happen to someone and it can be the hardest. When I was going through my own spiritual awakening in 2019, I longed for a community, like really bad. I wanted to connect to people who knew what I was going through because, darn, I was on a lonely path. I was seeing the world in a totally different way and I felt like no one really understood me anymore. Heck, I barely understood myself. I was looking for a spiritual community … not just what I feared was a “woo-woo” group. Oh yeah, I definitely didn’t want “woo-woo.”

I wanted a community of people doing the inner work and transforming themselves. I wanted spiritual tools to help me explore myself. I wanted to be with others who were seeking their inner Truth because I knew that would change my life and the world around me.

Our world has changed drastically over the past few years and many of us are reconsidering our relationships to ourselves and our soul’s purpose. We’re having to do deeper, inner work. And, this can be really disorienting. Here are five reasons why you should consider joining a spiritual community to support you on your path. (Don’t worry, I’m not talking about becoming a monk).

 
 

5 Reasons to Join a Spiritual Community

  1. It’s hard doing it on your own. It can be very lonely walking a spiritual path. It has been astounding the number of times people have said things to me like: “Yeah, I just wish I had people who got me” or "I don’t seem to have people like me around me.” This is a story of limitation and, dare I say, even, victimhood. There are people out there who are craving to connect with you.

  2. Change is challenging. Deep, inner growth is challenging. Even though many of us say we want change and we want to manifest our dreams, it can be very tough (and incredibly disorienting) when we start digging up old patterns and really looking at what we are carrying internally. Shadow work is no joke. A community can support you as you change.

  3. It’s hard to wrap your mind around what’s happening on Earth. So much is changing on the planet every single moment. Old paradigms are crumbling in front of our eyes while new ones are being born. Not sure how to make sense of Ascension or how to step into the creation of New Earth? Well, the thing is, we will only get there together.

  4. Things are coming up for you. Are you feeling more emotional lately? Are old patterns or old relationships surfacing again? Are you feeling more agitated? This is a tell-tale sign that you are being asked to heal right now and committing to your spiritual exploration will make a big difference. Other people can be a mirror for what you are going through.

  5. Other people can support your expansion. So much is changing for you and people in your life don’t seem to “get you” anymore. Sometimes we have to look outside of our familiar social groups to expand. A community of people committed to discovering themselves and doing the work can make a big difference in your spiritual growth, if you invite it in.
