Have you been feeling some strong energies this week? Do you feel like you are on the edge of change? On September 13 at 9:33 p.m. PT (September 14 for my east coast readers), the full moon in Pisces will illuminate the sky. It is well documented that the moon impacts life on Earth, including the tides and even women’s menstrual cycles. In astrology, the moon is the symbol for our emotions, feelings, and instinctual reactions. The moon represents our emotional security and what we need to feel taken care of, nurtured, and safe. 

The cycles of the moon are connected with the cycles of our lives. New moons (when the moon is not visible in the sky), bring beginnings. Full moons are particularly important events because they illuminate things for us in certain areas of our lives. Themes that emerge around these times will be present with us until the next new moon. Around full moons, there is heightened emotional energy that is usually very noticeable in peoples’ lives. Around full moons, people can often feel sensitive, emotionally drained, or even energized. Ask any nurse or teacher and they will likely confirm that people’s behavior and emotional states are different around full moons. 

September’s full moon is the last of the summer and is known as the Harvest Moon because it is the last full moon before the autumnal equinox. While all full moons provide us with the opportunity to see something in a new light, this full moon will undoubtedly be a transformative one for most. 

This month’s full moon is in the watery sign of Pisces, which will make it an emotionally sensitive and potentially confusing time. This full moon has several significant planetary aspects that will challenge and enhance this Piscean energy. Neptune, the planet of dreams, illusions, spirituality and psychic abilities (also the ruling planet of the sign of Pisces) will be conjunct the moon (meaning they will be right next to each other) will likely enhance our psychic sensibilities and influence emotional responses. So if you’re feeling a bit hazy these days, or unusually emotional or confused, this would be why. This energy is also supportive for tapping into your psychic energy and the greater cosmos.

September’s full moon presents us with some challenges because of the positions of Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune in relation to it. It is likely that this full moon will bring deceptions to life, challenge our belief systems, and change us if we are open to growth. This moon also forms a sextile to Pluto, the planet of transformation, in the Constellation Phoenix: translation‒get ready for a transformation in your life.

During this week and the coming weeks until the September 28th new moon, your subconscious might be playing a bigger role in your life. Explore what is there. Is there pain that needs healing? Where is there deception in your life? Are you being inauthentic with others? Is there an area of your life that you have neglected? Is there a new path you are creating for yourself? Are you honoring your journey? If you work with the energy of this full moon, there is a strong potential for real healing, change, and growth in your life.
